Checking in...

Well it's been some weeks since I last posted and even though I am now retired and recovering from my operation my life still seems to have been rather hectic!

On Thursday it was my grand-daughter Isabella's sixth birthday and I was determined to see her before she went to school. I left home at 6am and got the first bus at 6.09, I then had to get another bus and finally got to my daughter's house at 6.50, I was so proud of myself! Although I can drive it's been many years since I have done and don't miss driving at all (after all, over 60s get free bus travel in the UK!) but it would have made things so much easier if I'd gone by car, never mind, it was an experience and I've always been an early riser anyway. Isabella was so surprised when she opened the door to find me there! She was already in her school uniform and was happily showing me her birthday presents. She badly wanted a telescope and her mummy and daddy had bought one along with other things so she was a happy bunny!

Today it's her birthday party and guess who's in charge of making cakes?! I made some yesterday and when I get off this computer I shall be making more.

I don't seem to get any alerts about other people's posts and I don't know how to set them up, I really must try and get my head around all of this, it's just so time-consuming for me.

Well that's about it for now, please let me know if you do get an alert for this post, I'll wonder how, but anyway....!

Have a good Sunday,
Pat

I don't get any alerts either Pat. I just have to click and see if my favourite people have posted. I do miss the old alerts system. Perhaps an e-mail when one has posted? I don't know! Glad to hear you are continuing to feel better, you must be if you are making birthday cakes!!! Happy birthday to your Sweet Grand-daughter! XXOO

If you are following journals then you are notified of people posting in your dashboard. Under where you have your journals listed, if you scan down you will see the latest postings - they are listed by google. Hope the party goes well.

It's great to hear from you and yes I did see that you'd made an entry by checking my dash board. If anyone I've choosen to 'follow' as blogger says, has made an entry it shows on the dashboard. Every one I know that has retired says they seem busier than before. I think we just choose to do more of things we like to do and didn't have the time when working.
Enjoy the birthday party!

Sounds like a great surprise for your granddaughter!

Were you referring to comment alerts or entries posted by others you read? If you are talking about others you read, simply select "follow this blog" on each one. Then when you sign on go to your dashboard and you'll find a list of recent updates from the ones you "follow" Goes back quite a way. Each time you click on one to go there it will open in a new window. So you won't loose your place.

As for alerts for others comments on your entries, just go to the comments page of your settings. At the bottom of the page you can enter your email address and then you will recieve an email for each comment posted.

I hope I helped you.
