Phew!

Well, after having to change my password, (why I don't know, as I tried to use the one I always do) I've managed to get back to my blog.

It's been a strange few weeks for me. Just two weeks after our little trip to France, we went off to stay with friends in Devon, then two weeks after that I went into hospital for my hysterectomy. I'm now back home and am so VERY pleased that it's all back to a normal life for me, when I say normal life, I mean a normal routine!

I was only in hospital for two days and I can honestly say that it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I had my own room, my bathroom was twice the size of the one I have at home and everything was spotlessly clean, almost like new. The doctors and nursing staff were lovely, even the food was good! I know not all NHS hospitals are like that but I do think they get a bad press, we only seem to read of the bad ones. I sent a 'Thank you' card to the ward and mean to send a letter to the hospital director too to let them know how happy I was with the service. On Monday I went to see the nurse at my doctor's surgery so that she could change the dressings, when I told her I'd had the hysterectomy just last week, she looked amazed and said I looked so well! That gave me an enormous boost - I didn't even have any make-up on! She said I didn't need any more dressings on, I'm just to put a little cream on the wounds after my shower. I can't believe how well I feel and I haven't felt the need for any pain-killers since leaving hospital. My daughter is taking me out today for the first time, apart from going to the nurse, but I won't be doing too much walking, it's just to get a breath of fresh (cold!) air. She has looked after me very well. Peter had last week off work when I came out of hospital and he went back on Monday so Lorraine slept here for a couple of nights from Sunday and has been back every day. Next week I can start to cook and do a little light cleaning, no ironing yet, and I'm really looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.

So, that's all my news, obviously nothing exciting because I haven't been able to do much. I can say though, that with the really cold weather we've been having I am SO glad to be retired! I've been knitting a hat, scarf and mittens set for little Rico, would you belive that just a pair of mittens in the shops was £4! I've knitted the whole set for £1 and it took just a day to do, admittedly I did have time on my hands! We've no immeditate plans, apart from visiting Peter's brother and his wife tomorrow, but in a couple of weeks we're going to stay with my friend Linda in Essex for a few days and then early December we're off to York for a few days. I am so looking forward to that, it's years since we last went to Yorkshire. We'll be visiting the Christmas market in York and also while we're there we'll meet up with a pen-friend of mine, Julia. We've been pen-friends since we were in our teens and the last time we saw each other was when we were in our twenties, we did lose track of each other for many years but found ourselves again through Friends Reunited two and a half years ago. I'm also looking forward to visiting the Yorkshire Dales again and seeing the lovely little old-fashioned villages, hopefully Julia will come out with us on a couple of days too.

Well I suppose I'd better get myself ready, I still haven't caught up with other journals (been too busy knitting!) but I will get round to them in good time...if only to clear my in-box!

Love to all,
Pat

I'm so glad that you are doing so well after your operation. I was just thinking of mailing you to see how you were as I had not heard anything and here you are!!! How very wonderful that you have had your daughter come to help you out. I bet the scarf and mitten set is so cute. I wish I had time to knit. I haven't done any in yonks! It would be nice if we could have a chance to get together some time! I hope your recovery continues to go well and that you enjoy all your little getaways that are coming up! XXOO

Oh good grief!! I tried to leave a comment earlier only because I'd done a Cookie Cleanse recently, I was signed out of this system and couldn't remember which, e mail address, or password I needed. Then found that meant I couln' get into my transferred Blog!! Anyway, sorted it now.
I didn't get an Alert but that may be because I haven't set one up yet. To be honest I don't have a clue in here just yet. Hopefully I will have time to sort it and write a new entry soon.

Glad to hear you are making such a good recovery, I'm sure having a positive frame of mind helps.

Hi Pat, I`m glad you are feeling so much better after your op. I had the same one nearly 20 years ago and even though I recovered quickly I was in hospital for a week. I did feel so much better afterwards, I felt like a new woman. Take care not to overdo things though, it`s very easy to do as I found to my cost. :o(

Love Sandra xxxx
